BRIDGESTONE CYCLE CHRONOLOGY

1949
Bridgestone Bicycle Co., Ltd. split from Bridgestone Tire Co., Ltd.
1951
Began mass production of bicycle using diecast frames.
1961
Development of ergonomic research for better efficiency begun.
1963
Became top share brand in bicycle business in Japan.
1964
Bridgestone Cycle Competitive Cycling Division established.
1973
Sport bike “Roadman” created.
1980
Bridgestone Bicycle U.S.A founded.
1985
Started making bikes for triathlon and road racing.
1986
Started making sports aluminum bonded model.
1988
Carbon sport bike in production / sales.
1991
The NEO-COT Frame developed with the optimum shape theory.
1994
MTB team founded.
1997
Racing Development Project started.
1998
The professional Team Bridgestone Anchor formulated.
2000
Bridgestone/Moulton BSM-S18 was developed with Alex Moulton Bicycles.
2004
MTB 650B model released.
2005
3 pieces Carbon model released.
2006
3 pieces Hi-Mod Carbon models and “Dragon Craw Head” design released.
2007
Started Women’s line up.
2010
Started individually order-made carbon frame RXR.
2015
Propulsion maximized racing bike R9R using “PROFORMAT” released.
2015
Rider: Triathlete Ai Ueda won in ITU World Cup race.
